Bohemian Backyard Dinner Party Featured in Camille Styles

I was so honored to be featured on Camille Styles and show off a recent bohemian themed dinner party I had hosted for an intimate gathering of 15 of my closest friends in the comfort of my backyard. From dahlias to designs, I hope you enjoy the intricate details of this special dining experience.

#BackyardGoals came to life! The low dining tables were an eclectic mix of fabrics, textures, vintage pieces, French plates, and more alongside white fur covered cushions as the seats.

Each invitation was unique. Letterpressed rose gold foil in 220# Lettra were printed and then stained with an Argentinian Malbec. The stains tied in with the fare, flowers, and decor, and added a nice touch to the overall casual vibe of the dinner.

From the menu to the place settings, warm coppers, bronzes, and autumn colors were the theme to the color scheme. A Fare Extraordinaire catered the dinner and helped me pull of the intimate family-style dining experience.

A perfectly paired earthy and bohemian set up. A little background on these glasses, they were actually my grandparents' glasses from their Puerto Rican wedding nearly 63 years ago. I loved bringing in this element to the party as a piece of my family history.

Handcrafted signs were created for each display of food. Small bites before the main course included gloucester, port wine derby, triple cream brie, crudité selections and homemade red pepper hummus. In-between small tastings, guests sipped on my signature drink of blood orange margaritas.

A big thank you to A Fare Extraordinaire, Maxit Flower Designs, and Ashleigh Amoroso Photography for helping me make my creative dreams come true. This dinner was so special to me because I was able to host my dearest and closest friends, but what made it even more special is to have my work featured in this article. Thank you Camille Styles for letting me share with you and your readers a little snippet of my story.

Berdon's 4th Birthday Party

"Calling All Campers" was the theme for my son's 4th birthday party. Though he was born on Christmas Eve, I always plan his birthday earlier in December. This year, I wanted to have a fun, interactive and unique birthday experience that Berdon could share with his friends.

The start of the concept of the party was in the design of the invitation. The invitation, to think of all the details in a camping theme, was screen printed on wood. Using kraft envelopes with white lettering, and incorporating part of the invitation to round out, I left the lettering youthful and fun!

The color theme for the party was shades of brown, green and a touch of red. Outside of our home, I erected a teepee with a hand lettered rustic wood direction sign to welcome our guests and set the tone for the party.

The table for the children was covered with an Indian blanket style cloth. Each "camper" had a wood place card with their name lettered by Meg Grant & Co., a miniature bubble blower, a woodland style head piece, and a screen printed muslin bag with the logo from the invitation.

I rounded out the table design with copper lanterns and greenery as a centerpiece.

A "Friendly Forrest" cake and cupcakes were served for dessert! Maple and Love made this declicious creatation - a vanilla cake with Oreo frosting decorated as a tree log, dark chocolate shards, and friendly forrest critters with winter greenery.

The party was held in the backyard of my home with 3 different entertainments for the kids: a S'Mores making station, Face Painter, and a small petting zoo with rabbits, ducks, a pony, duck, and goat. The highlight of the day for Berdon was the animals...he thought they were his birthday presents!

S'more s'mores please!

Miniature Cheeseburger Sliders - traditional grilled beef patties topped with cheddar cheese and served on soft seeded homemade rolls.

Behind the buffet table was custom backdrop from Cake & Confetti. The canvas was decorated with small green cones, giving the "forest" feel to the camping theme.

Despite the Houston weather, there were plenty of smiles and tons of laughter to make it feel like the sun was shining at my son's 4th birthday party.

A big thank you to Snapshots and My Thoughts for her amazing photography, Cake and Confetti for the backdrop, Monica Eskridge of Paper Flour Ink for printing the invitations + muslin bags, and A Fare Extraordinaire for catering + event coordination.
