"Calling All Campers" was the theme for my son's 4th birthday party. Though he was born on Christmas Eve, I always plan his birthday earlier in December. This year, I wanted to have a fun, interactive and unique birthday experience that Berdon could share with his friends.
The start of the concept of the party was in the design of the invitation. The invitation, to think of all the details in a camping theme, was screen printed on wood. Using kraft envelopes with white lettering, and incorporating part of the invitation to round out, I left the lettering youthful and fun!
The color theme for the party was shades of brown, green and a touch of red. Outside of our home, I erected a teepee with a hand lettered rustic wood direction sign to welcome our guests and set the tone for the party.
The table for the children was covered with an Indian blanket style cloth. Each "camper" had a wood place card with their name lettered by Meg Grant & Co., a miniature bubble blower, a woodland style head piece, and a screen printed muslin bag with the logo from the invitation.
I rounded out the table design with copper lanterns and greenery as a centerpiece.
A "Friendly Forrest" cake and cupcakes were served for dessert! Maple and Love made this declicious creatation - a vanilla cake with Oreo frosting decorated as a tree log, dark chocolate shards, and friendly forrest critters with winter greenery.
The party was held in the backyard of my home with 3 different entertainments for the kids: a S'Mores making station, Face Painter, and a small petting zoo with rabbits, ducks, a pony, duck, and goat. The highlight of the day for Berdon was the animals...he thought they were his birthday presents!
Miniature Cheeseburger Sliders - traditional grilled beef patties topped with cheddar cheese and served on soft seeded homemade rolls.
Behind the buffet table was custom backdrop from Cake & Confetti. The canvas was decorated with small green cones, giving the "forest" feel to the camping theme.
Despite the Houston weather, there were plenty of smiles and tons of laughter to make it feel like the sun was shining at my son's 4th birthday party.
